     What is a Started Puppy?

     For many families today, bringing a new puppy home is exciting, but it can also be a bit of a
    challenge.

    Busy schedules may make it difficult to find enough time each day to devote to training your new
    puppy. Many families have asked us to start their new puppy in basic obedience training (come, sit,
    stay and heel), house training as well as crate training.

    If you choose a Started Puppy, you will pick out your puppy from our litter. The puppy stays with us
    for the next few weeks. We will begin working with your puppy and work through the most difficult
    and challenging times.

    By the time you bring your Started Puppy home, he/she will have received all vaccinations to date
    including Rabies and Tag, a Health Certificate from our Veterinarian, permanent identification in the
    form of a microchip, an understanding of basic obedience commands and be comfortable in a crate
    overnight. This contributes greatly to helping your puppy make the transition to your home much
    easier for everyone.

    It is important to remember that a young puppy is never fully trained, but a started puppy is well
    on its way. You must continue to reinforce the training which has taken place.

    We also recommend purchasing the book and video FAMILY DOG written by RICHARD WOLTERS as
    this is nearly identical to the philosophy we follow.
